Garrick Ohlsson's latest recording for Bridge combines new studio recordings of major compositions by Prokofiev and Rachmaninoff with one of the great American pianist's own favorite “live” performances- a 1974 un-edited reading of Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition, given in Prague. Ohlsson was 26 and had just become the "young lion" of Prague, where, over the years, he has achieved great popularity, playing more than 60 times. Garrick Ohlsson's recent recordings for Bridge include Scriabin: The Complete Etudes (BRIDGE 9287), and his Grammy-winning Beethoven Sonta disc (BRIDGE 9207), a part of his complete Beethoven Sonata cycle. |
