William Bland’s “Nouveau Rag” is based on rag form a la Scott Joplin. “Doctor Bland, His Jig” is based on traditional Irish rhythms and modes, and “True and Authentic Gymnopedie” is based on Greek monody with a nod to Eric Satie. These three new dances have proven to be very popular among guitarists, with “Nouveau Rag” already recorded by David Starobin on Bridge Records (BRIDGE 9084), and Alexander-Sergei Ramirez for Deutsche Grammophon.
