The Art Music Lounge: What A Performance! 2020 Winner

This recording presents four trios by American composers who are linked by their New England experience and studies at Harvard University.  Three of the four works (the Piston trios and the Perera trio) are new additions to the currently available recorded catalog.  Leonard Bernstein's 1937 trio is one of the composer's earliest works, written during his apprenticeship at Harvard.  Its three movements are by turns dance-like, bluesy and jazzy.

Reviews:

"With the release of this exquisitely produced, recorded and performed disc, the skilled trio of John Pitchon, Marie-Volcy Pelletier and Yu-Mei Wei have explored the New England connection between iconic American composers Ronald Perera, Walter Piston and Leonard Bernstein.” - theWholeNote

Here are four notable and engaging twentieth century American piano trios well worth our attention. This will be an easy album to overlook. Don’t.” - posi+ive feedback

A very interesting CD, and considering the world premiere recordings, a necessary one for fans of 20th-century American music.” - The Art Music Lounge
