David Starobin’s “Three Places in New Rochelle” (2002) is a three movement suite for guitar and percussion with a duration of approximately 10 minutes. The idiom is a mixture of tonal and atonal elements. Written for the composer/guitarist’s daughter, the percussion part is written for a beginner, while the guitar part requires a moderately advanced player. The piece is edited and fingered by David Starobin.
