Victor Rosenbaum
Schubert Recital

$ 14.99

Victor Rosenbaum gives shatteringly intense performances of two late Schubert masterpieces- the Sonata in A Minor, D. 959, and Moments Musicaux, Op. 94. This recording is from a concert given in Jerusalem, and documents, for the first time on disc, the art of Victor Rosenbaum, a Schubertian of unusual temperament and depth.

The transcendently beautiful A major Sonata was written in September of 1828, a year in which Schubert, knowing he was fatally ill, wrote with an almost unimaginable furiosity in an apparent race against time. Moments Musicaux was published that same year, and shows Schubert's mastery in the shorter forms.

“He gives a masterful, cohesive performance marked by technical excellence and emotional expressiveness.” - The Sunday Gazette

“This CD of the two late piano works of Schubert is a most welcome release.” - The TAB (Grade: A-)
