Andrew Rangell: Beethoven Sonatas
BRIDGE 9297

$ 14.99

Andrew Rangell's latest recording presents four sonatas, composed by Beethoven at the end of the 18th century, and published in 1798 and 1799. The three Op. 10 sonatas and the ever-popular Pathetique feature Beethoven's newly-found concision and economy of expression, combined with even greater humor and wit than was apparent in the master's earlier sonatas. Pianist Andrew Rangell was born in Chicago and raised in Colorado. Mr. Rangell has taught on the faculties of Dartmouth, Middlebury and Tufts University, and has performed throughout the USA, Europe and Israel. His extensive discography on Bridge includes: Beethoven: Sonata No. 10, Op. 14, No. 2; Sonata No. 17, Op. 31, No. 2; Sonata No. 24, Op. 78; Sonata No. 9, Op. 14, No. 1; Sonata No. 27, Op. 90 (BRIDGE 9181); Schubert: Sonata in B-flat, D. 960; Moments Musicaux, D. 780. Last month Bridge released his recording of the Charles Ives: Sonata No. 1; Carl Nielsen: Suite, Op. 45 and John McDonald's Meditation, Op. 406.

Reviews:

“Bridge’s recording is clear and very much alive and the presentation is also very attractive. A sure fire recommendation is in order here.” - Classical Net
